Last week the giant lift arrived and the fire sprinkler system is now being installed. In this photo, you can see the old organ lofts over the exits which are being repaired with new woodwork to match the original. All the work with the lift must be done ASAP -- the only way to get it inside was to drive it through the old concession stand -- the new stand can't be constructed until the lift is out.

PBS visits The World Theatre
NETV is filming a special on philanthropy which will feature the World Theatre and air in February. The crew stopped by Director, Jon Bokenkamp's house last Friday to discuss the project and the grassroots campaign which is funding the renovation. Here, Jon's son Jackson talks with Producer Penny Costello.

Concrete
Concrete work began today as the contractors prepared to pour the rear section of the auditorium. This will make way for ADA seating.

Lobby gets framed...
The lobby has been gutted and the guys have started framing the new look. An arched entryway, a 14 foot ceiling and new walls from the studs up.

New water main goes in for sprinkler system.
It's not sexy, but to install a sprinkler system the theatre needs a whole new water service. That means tearing up bricks, sidewalks, etc. No bones or bodies found have been found (yet).

UNK's Big Event Helps the World
A big thank you goes out to all the guys who helped cleanup/organize the World for UNK's Big Event Weekend. We are now waiting for approval on the plans from the city and then we can start getting bids for the project. Its so close!
